Instagram could soon introduce a video calling feature on its Android and iOS app

Popular photo-sharing platform Instagram may reportedly have a video calling feature in the near future. The Instagram team has been working to implement this feature in its application on Android and iOS platforms. The feature will become immediately accessible as soon as the user opens up an active Instagram Direct chat.

According to the report by WABetainfo, a new icon in the shape of a video camera should appear in the navigation bar of the chat. The report claims that you can video calling only if the other person has accepted the request to chat.

The video calling should start by tapping on the camera icon, that is seen on the Instagram Direct chat. As of now, there is no more knowledge on exactly what other features this video calling feature will have.

According to TechCrunch, Instagram has refused to comment on this speculation.

Instagram already has a feature which lets you join in on a live chat on Instagram Stories, which broadcasts these video conversations.

In more Instagram related news, the Facebook-owned social media platform is testing options to change the fonts of typed posts. For the lucky few who can access the feature that is currently under testing, there are three fonts available. These are Modern, Typewriter and Strong.

Instagram is yet to make this option official since it is only in the testing phase. And while it is in the testing phase, it must be noted that the typewriter font makes the text very small which also lets you type more. Maybe it can work upon the size of the text option depending on the font of the text.
