Several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs waited outside Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal’s residence for around four hours on Monday as they wanted to discuss the issue of sealing of shops, which they said had become a “matter of concern for traders across the city”.
AAP spokesperson and MLA from Greater Kailash, Saurabh Bharadwaj, said that the legislators waited from 3 p.m. to around 7.30 p.m. to meet the L-G.
Mr. Bharadwaj had requested for a prior appointment with Mr. Baijal via a letter written on Sunday.
The MLAs said that the gates of the bungalow were barricaded and they were asked to wait outside. The leaders were seen sitting on the footpath of the narrow lane leading to the house.
Posting pictures of the waiting legislators, Mr. Bharadwaj tweeted: “While MLAs waiting for Hon’ble LG, he left for beating retreat from another gate. We will wait for you sir at your door steps [sic].”
After they met the L-G, Mr. Bharadwaj said that Mr. Baijal agreed that alterations to the Master Plan can be made to stop the sealing drives.
