William S.J. Conkel, 90, of Burlington, died 7:10 a.m., Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Great River Klein Center.
Born February 13, 1927 in Des Moines, IA, he was the son of William B. and Pearl (Alleman) Conkel. He married Jonda R. Reed on October 13, 1950 in Leon, IA.
Mr. Conkel worked in agriculture, at Hy-Vee, retired from Burlington Northern Railroad, and was the owner/operator of Conkel Realty and Auction.
He attended school in Stockdale, OH and was active in the 91st Cavalry Army from May 23, 1945 to October 25, 1946. He was a civic volunteer, a member of the Clock Association and Board of Realtors, and a past member of The Masons.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Jonda; four children, William B. (Linda) Conkel, Genila S. (Gary) Wolgemuth, Renita J. (Tom) Bloyd, Desiree Regnier; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren, and beloved dog Dach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, son-in-law W. William Regnier Jr. and faithful companion Sport.
There will be no services at this time. Cremation has been accorded.
