Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente is being eyed by Chelsea

Antonio Conte is desperate for a new striker before Wednesday’s deadline and the Blues have been linked with a number of forwards, including Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch and Edin Dzeko.

Their latest target is Arsenal’s Giroud, who they are reportedly targeting with a £15m bid.

The move hinges on whether the Gunners can finalise a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is set to sign for a club-record fee.

The German side will look to replace their talisman with Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi, allowing the west London side to bring in Giroud.

“The Spaniard opted to join Spurs over Chelsea from Swansea last summer but has struggled for game time due to the stunning form of Harry Kane.”

But according to ESPN, Chelsea have identified Llorente as a plan B in case the Giroud deal falls through.

And he may be open to a switch to Stamford Bridge having worked with Conte at Juventus.

Arsena's Olivier Giroud is Antonio Conte's first choice

The Italian has promised any new striker they will be used as competition for Alvaro Morata and not as second choice.

Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League, three points behind second-placed Manchester United.

They’re back in action tomorrow evening as they welcome Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge.
