A teenage girl and her boyfriend took their own lives on Sunday as their families did not approve their relationship in Jessore's Chougachha upazila.
The deceased were Aduri Khatun, 14, daughter of Montaz Ali of Ballabpur village, and local trader Al Amin, 22, of the same village. Aduri was a Class IX student of Ballabpur High School.
They fell in love with one another, said Saiful Islam, a member of Ballabpur Union Parishad.
As their families did not accept the relationship, the duo took poison at the playground of Ballabpur High School on Sunday night, he said.
The two were rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital where they died later, said Saiful.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, said Md Khandokar Sameem Uddin, officer-in-charge of Chougachha Police Station.
