Harrison, who attends St. Joseph School in Winter Haven, hit 11 of his 15 free throws to win the Boys 13 division. Davenport School of the Arts’ Shareem Smith fell just short with nine makes.
Aleah McPartlan, a Jewett Academy student, won her division for the third-straight year with five makes to win the Girls 11 division.
McPartlan‘s younger brother, Jordan, won the Boys 9 division with six makes.
Malcolm Smith made 7 of 15 to win the Boys 11 division, Josef Hansen made 10 of 15 to win the Boys 12 division and Nathan Gomez made 6 of 15 to win the Boys 14 division.
All shooters will advance to the district event on Feb. 17 at St. Joseph School, where they will have a chance to advance to regionals and, eventually, states at Orlando Olympia High School on March 3.
South Central Florida Pickleball League results
The South Central Florida Pickleball League saw winners in both its Ladies and Best 8 leagues this past week.
Del Webb took 14 of 16 matches in a home win over the Frostproof Gator Gals in the Ladies league on Thursday.
The Del Webb duo’s of Jill Lucchetti-Beth Hofmann and Amy Cossa-Deb Frison finished 4-0 while two Frostproof pairings — Rhonda Berger, Bonnie Hendricks; Rhonda Roy, Jo Rutley — put together solid performances.
Buttonwood Bay knocked off Highlands Ridge on Tuesday. Highlands Ridge remains in first place followed by Del Webb, Tanglewood, Buttonwood Bay and Frostproof.
Del Webb won 9 of 16 matches to beat the Frostproof Gators in Best 8 play on Saturday.
Ray Lucchetti and Allen Toole went undefeated for Del Webb while J.P. Lefebvre and Richard Lewis won three of four matches for Frostproof. Tanglewood and Highlands Ridge sit atop the standings while Del Webb, Lake Ashton, Sun N Lake and Frostproof round it out.
Registration opens for 2018 Polk Senior Games
Registration is now open for the 26th annual Polk Senior Games.
The annual event, which is an Olympic-style competition held throughout the county, will run from Feb. 24 to March 12. There will be 38 different sports offered to senior men and women ages 50 and older.
Sports that will be offered include archery, bag toss, basketball shooting and 3 on 3, billiards, bocce, individual and team bowling, bridge, checkers, chess, cribbage, social, ballroom and square dancing, darts, euchre, walking, track and field events, fishing and fly casting, golf, putt and chip, horseshoes, lawn bowling, pepper, pickleball, punt, pass and kick, powerlifting, 5k road race, scrabble, senior smarts, shooting, shuffleboard, softball, Sudoku, swimming, table tennis and tennis.
Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each age division within each event.
The initial cost is $10 for the first event and $3 for every additional event up to a total of $28. Fees increase for team sports as softball is $125, 3-on-3 basketball and square dancing are $50 and bowling is $36.

Summerlin AFJROTC wins air rifle season opener
The Summerlin Academy Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps opened the season by knocking off South Panola (Miss.) in the National Air Rifle New Shooter League.
Summerlin, which moves to 1-0, beat South Panola 1,013-950 and was led by Sarah Maggard’s score of 272. Kyle Patsue, Taylor Helms and Blaze Moyeda also turned in solid performances for coach Steven Beck’s team.
Washburn Rural (Kan.) is next up for Summerlin.
Lady Cavaliers' basketball tryouts coming
The Lady Cavaliers travel basketball team is looking for players.
Coming off a 2017 Youth Basketball of America championship, the Lady Cavaliers will host an information day and tryout on Feb. 17 at Highlands Church of Christ in Lakeland. The event kicks off at 11 a.m.
