PIROJPUR, Jan 29: A mobile court here seized 120 kg of Jatka (hilsa fry) fish from the fish market of Indurkani Upazila in the district on Monday morning.
Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Rajib Ahmed led the court along with Upazila Fishery Officer Sheikh Abdullah and a team police of Indurkani Police Station.
Upazila Fishery Officer said a ban was imposed on Jatka netting from November 1 to June 30. Ignoring the government order, eight fish traders were selling Jatka at Indurkani Bazaar at the upazila headquarters. Being informed, a team from Fisheries Department conducted the raid and seized the fish.
The fishes were distributed to 11 orphanages in the upazila.
