Annual Sports Competition is being organized under the first ‘Khelo India’ School Games-2018 at New Delhi from January 31, by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Sixteen games have been included in the competition. Girls and boys under 17 years of age are taking part in the competition.
A total of 90 players from Madhya Pradesh have been selected for the competition. Online application procedure was adopted by the Directorate of Public Instructions to select the players. Annual scholarship of Rs 5 lakh will be given to each selected player continuously up to 8 years. Moreover, the expenses towards the training of these selected players will be borne by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. These players have been selected for ‘Khelo India’ School Games on the basis of their performance in 63rd National Schools Games held in the year 2017-18.
It may be mentioned that Madhya Pradesh has performed excellently in the sports competitions organized by the School Games Federation of India in the past. Madhya Pradesh was honoured to bag third position in the country by winning over 100 gold medals in different games. It was a big achievement for the School Education Department. The players have proceeded for New Delhi to take part in the competition.
