I DROVE from Kent to Stirling the other day and stopped for a bowl of soup near Birmingham and a cup of tea and scone further north.
At the services near Birmingham, the soup was presented in a non-recyclable paper/plastic cup with lid. The soup spoons were plastic and individually wrapped in plastic, no soup bowls or metal spoons were available. Further north the scone was unwrapped (shock, horror) and the jam and cream were in jars from which you helped yourself and little recyclable paper receptacles were provided for this, take just what you need. Chalk and cheese, but something needs to be done to change attitudes.
