Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene activists engaged in a verbal dual with the staff of the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) and sent the staff out of office during a protest on Monday.
The protesters led by KRRS State vice-president K. Narayana Gowda blocked the entrance of the office, obstructed work and forced the staff to go out. The protest was organised condemning unbridled permission for opening private schools in the district and against collection of hefty donations.
They insisted that DDPI Swamy should come to the spot and hear the grievances. Since Mr. Swamy was attending a video conference with the Primary Education Minister Tanvir Sait, he could not arrive.
The police intervened and convinced the protesters who submitted a memorandum to the officers present. The outfit demanded that licence of private educational institutions be cancelled for violating government guidelines.
Government school teachers should send their children to government schools only and the government should strictly instruct them to this effect, Mr. Narayana Gowda said.
