The Fort Smith Board of Directors will meet Tuesday at its study session with representatives from an organization that could choose Fort Smith for a mostly grant-funded program.

The city applied to participate in a technical assistance program for help in developing and implementing a multi-year financial plan, according to a memo from Finance Director Jennifer Walker to City Administrator Carl Geffken. Representatives from the National Resource Network, which assists cities and government entities through peer networks, technical assistance programs and online access to tools and resources, will be in Fort Smith on Tuesday and Wednesday for an on-site visit.

Five cities in the nation will be selected for the program, 75 percent of which will we covered by a grant from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation.

The Board of Directors' study session will be noon Tuesday at the Fort Smith Public Library, 3201 Rogers Ave.
