GRAMMYS 2018 was descended into violence as host James Corden got in a fight with someone live during broadcasting.

The UK presenter was trying to pull off a sketch with Sting and Shaggy on a New York subway as they tried to entertain the people on board during the .

But the good deed backfired as members of the public asked the trio to stop making so much noise.

As James, Shaggy and Sting sang The Police's Every Breath You Take, a New Yorker definitely wasn't impressed.

39-year-old James tried to explain: "We’re doing like a carpool karaoke but like New York special edition."

The man hit back: "I don’t give a f***. Shut up."

The three men then burst into a medley of t It Wasn’t Me and Don’t Make Me Wait.

ALL A JOKE: Fans of the awards seemed to love the skit

The construction worker finally had enough as he said: "How about you shut up and sit down?"

He quickly added: "How about this, you get off the subway at the next stop or I take you off?"

Poor James was left blind sided as he was punched on the nose.

PERFORMING: James tried to cheer up the days of New Yorkers

He was later seen with a tissue stuffed up his nose with Shaggy and Sting on either side of him.

Sting asked: "Whose stupid idea was this?" as Shaggy replied: "Wasn't me."

Fans had been left confused by James earlier in the night as they got him muddled up with Jim Gaffigan.
