Hyeon Chung talks Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic after Australian Open 2018

AUSTRALIAN OPEN’S surprise package Hyeon Chung has revealed that he was “unfortunate” to retire from his semi-final clash with Roger Federer.

The South Korean star was one of the most uplifting stories of the tournament as he ground his way to the semi-final of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.

The world number 58 even beat former champion Novak Djokovic on his way to setting up a last four tie with Federer.

The Swiss star eventually went on to win the competition by beating Maric Cilic in five sets on Sunday.

But Chung was still delighted with how he fared Down Under and now wants to continue the momentum when he next returns to action.

There was no guarantee that I would have beaten Federer even if I was in my best form, but it was unfortunate that my feet were injured when I faced him.

"I will do my best to stay in form so that I don't have to quit in the middle of a match next time,” Chung told Chosun.com.

"The most memorable match was the one against Novak Djokovic.

The 21-year-old also revealed that he is excited to eat his favourite food after a long two weeks on tour.

"I just want to get a good rest, and have some pork,” Chung added.

“I’ve mostly eaten beef while I was abroad, so I miss pork. And one of my favourite things to do is rolling on my bed, so I want to do that.”
