2 kids cited for honesty

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines —Two Muslim children will be awarded for returning a wallet containing cash that they found as they were begging in this city on Saturday.

Jessica Musa, 9, and her companion Sorayda Bantilan, 8, returned the wallet containing P400 to Police Office 3 Arnel Falcis.

“They could have kept the money because they need it, but they opted to return it” Falcis said, adding he was touched by the children’s gesture.

He said the children found the wallet as they were begging for food and money from passersby along a busy street here.

The girls told Falcis they beg at night in order to sustain their schooling.

Fe Lita Yparraguire, principal of a school where the girls study, told journalists that she would give them special awards during the flag ceremony today.
