Doctors of East Coast Railway Central Hospital at Mancheswar successfully performed a rare bilateral knee replacement surgery on a 55-year-old woman who is a spouse of a railway employee.
She was suffering from severe osteo arthritis and severely damaged knee joint of both sides and unable to walk. Earlier, the Railway Central Hospital was conducting single knee replacement surgery an depended on corporate hospitals for referral of such cases.
Consultant surgeon of Railway Hospital and Dr J Jena, Additional Chief Health Director/Surgery of Railway Central Hospital Dr Debasish Mishra along with Dr Sk Sirajuddin and Dr Lingaraj Sahu conducted the surgery which took two and a half hours time. Principal Chief Medical Director of East Coast Railway Dr SK Mohanty and Medical Director of Railway Central Hospital Dr Arundhati Senapati appreciated and congratulated the surgery team for successful operation.
