70% Indians trust govt; 5% down from 2017

India ranks fourth worldwide in terms of people trusting its government and third on securing people's trust across all four institutions including government, media, business and NGOs, according to Global Trust Index. However, the trust levels have declined from the previous year. While 75% Indians placed their trust in the government in 2017, only 70% trusted the government in 2018. People also lost some trust in media with only 61% trusting this institution in 2018 against 66% in 2017.
