Armed incident in Kamo, north of Whangarei

Police have cordoned a street in Kamo, north of Whangarei.

The armed offenders squad arrived at 5.45pm. Officers with guns are stopping traffic in and out of Charles St.

One woman took exception to an officer blocking her path saying she had a daughter in a house up the street and wanted to check if she was ok.

She carried on through the cordon.

Neighbours on the street were on their lawns and decks watching the action.
