A deranged man tried to grab an officer's gun outside of Madison Square Garden on Sunday and then flung a laptop at her head as she chased him — hitting her in the face, police said.

Jonathan Chin, 26, approached the cop on W. 32nd St. at Seventh Ave. at about 10:45 a.m., ahead of the evening's Grammy Awards at the venue, and started making conversation with her. He then tried to pull the gun from her holster, but she shoved him off and he ran, cops said.

As he ran, he hurled a laptop, nailing the officer above her left eye and cutting her forehead, according to police.

The cop powered through the assault and injury and caught up with him, arresting him between W. 32nd and W. 33rd Sts., cops said. The officer, who's assigned to the 108th Precinct in Long Island City, was doing paid detail outside the Garden.

She went to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

Chin, who lives in Chinatown, was taken to Roosevelt Hospital for a psychological evaluation and then charged with robbery and assault, police said.
