Chad Greenway Reflects On Vikings' Historic Season

The Minnesota Vikings became the first Super Bowl host to advance to the conference championship game, but fell one win shy of the big game, suffering a 38-7 loss at Philadelphia.  South Dakota native, and former Vikings linebacker, Chad Greenway shares his thoughts on the team's historic season.

The Vikings saw their season come to an abrupt end with last Sunday's 31-point loss at Philadelphia.  It was the team's first trip to the NFC Championship game since Chad Greenway and crew lost a heartbreaker in New Orleans nearly a decade ago.

"My wife and I have talked about it already.  What's worse, to lose in overtime in New Orleans or get beat bad in Philly?  What's the worse loss from an athlete's perspective?  I don't think there's a right answer there.  They both stink," Mt. Vernon native Chad Greenway said.

This year's loss came on the heels of a win over the Saints, and the "Minnesota Miracle".

"In the NFL, week to week, that's why you have to move on from a win or a loss, because you have to figure out how to win that next one because everybody is so good.  So, a team where we were supposed to win and beat can get you.  It's just one of those things.  In the NFL, everybody is good," Greenway said.

As good as the Eagles were in the conference finals, Greenway says home field played a major role in the outcome.

"I think the one thing that nobody really predicted was how big that home field advantage was going to be.  We got off to a fast start, but one turnover, the crowd gets into it, and before you know it things kind of get away from you," Greenway said.

The Vikings have already lost offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur, and have to settle on a quarterback, but Greenway says the best is yet come.

"Let this become part of our history, but not our future.  I think the biggest thing with Coach Zim is to find that offensive coordinator.  We lost Sherm, which is a big loss.  I thought he did a great job.  Obviously, identify who your quarterback is going to be and keep adding pieces.  This team can win right away, just got to get those pieces back," Greenway said.

The Vikings will reportedly interview Texans quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan early this week, as a possible replacement for Shurmur.
