PUNE: A 21-year-old man from Kasba Peth was arrested for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage and raping her over three months at a room in Kondhwa.
On January 26, the girl ran away to her parents' house and lodged a complaint against the suspect. The man has been arrested under sections 366 (A) (procuration of minor girl), 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code and the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

A Khadak police officer said, "The suspect had promised to marry the girl. He had abducted her from Bhavani Peth on November 3 last year."

The man had kept her at a room in Kondhwa, where he would rape her. Whenever the girl tried to go out, he would beat her up and threaten to kill her, the officer said.
