The glitchy-but-dreamy undertones of Ben Fairey’s latest effort encourage a depth in the listener that is rarely reached in an era of formulaic pop. Having previously penned, produced and performed a handful of bootleg releases for among others, his variety pseudonym Floe-Joe at the Edinburgh Festival, it is all too obvious that the Destination EP marks the homecoming of Fairey’s true artistry.

The four-track collection, (created by compiling songs from his previous effort: a trilogy of EPs titled ‘Dragon Journeys’) is rich in synth textures whilst lyrically drifting between euphoric and tragic.

Racking up a quarter of a million streams after being featured on the artist’s Spotify page, the songs were rereleased as the Destination EP.

“When I released Dragon Journeys, it was the first time I’d projected myself into the music. Those songs were really raw because I was being instinctive with my ideas and throwing them over a blank canvas. These four songs were the clearest pictures in the end so musically, it’s like reaching a destination.”
With a growing audience and two remixed versions already making the rounds, Ben’s latest work proves he’s definitely one to watch.
