State police confirm four people are dead after a shooting early Sunday morning in Melcroft, Fayette County.

Officials have identified the victims as William Porterfield, 27; Chelsie Cline, 25; Courtney Snyder, 23; and Seth Cline, 21.

Officials originally reported that five people were dead. The fifth person, who officials identified as the suspected shooter, was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the head and is not expected to survive. Officials said it is a possibility that the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

He has been identified as Timothy Smith, 28.

One woman at the scene survived. Officials said the believe she was able to duck down to stay out of Smith's view. She suffered minor injuries due to broken glass.

The shooting happened at a self-serve car wash located in the 1300 block of Indiana Creek Valley Road at approximately 2:52 a.m.

Officials said Smith was armed with a AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, a 9 mm handgun and a .308 rifle and was wearing a body armor carrier without the ballistic panels inserted.

A green pickup truck was found at the scene with multiple bullet holes, along with two other vehicles.

The sister of one of the women who was shot and killed said her sister's ex-boyfriend was the shooter. She also said her sister had broken up with him and he was heartbroken and jealous.
