MP's car catches fire in city

A car of a member of parliament (MP) caught fire near the High Court area in the capital yesterday.

Reserve bench lawmaker Nasima Ferdushe was not inside the vehicle when it caught fire around 1:07pm.

Three fire fighting units doused the blaze, said Mahfus Riben, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence.

No one was hurt in the fire, caused due to a mechanical glitch, he said.

“My son Mahamudul Hasan Tumon was alone in the car and came out unhurt right after seeing the fire,” Nasima told The Daily Star over the phone.
