WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – What you need to know after the Purdue women’s basketball team’s 88-73 victory over Penn State at Mackey Arena.
• The Lady Lions had no answer for Ae’Rianna Harris. The sophomore center established a new career high in points early in the third quarter. She hit her first 10 field goal attempts and finished 27 points on 12 of 14 shooting.
• Harris’ performance overshadowed a tremendous outing by Dominque Oden. The sophomore totaled 21 points – hitting 9 of 11 field goals – and collected seven assists.
• Purdue took control early, building a 28-18 lead after one quarter. The Boilermakers led 43-33 at halftime and were up by eight heading into the fourth quarter. Purdue led by 16 in the second quarter and the biggest lead was 17 in the fourth quarter.
• Purdue set a school record - and a Big Ten record in conference games - by shooting 73.5 percent. The Boilermakers made 36 of 49 field goals. The previous school record mark was 68.9 percent against Eastern Illinois in 1981. It's the second-highest field goal percentage by a conference team in league history.
• The Boilermakers took advantage of Penn State’s suspect transition defense, scoring easy baskets in the paint. They totaled 42 points in the paint.
• Freshman Karissa McLaughlin totaled a season-high 11 assists and added 10 points - all in the second half.
• Lamina Cooper returned to action. Cooper missed the last three games with an illness.
• Penn State standout Teniya Page scored 25 points.
