Troopers of the Kent County Governors Task Force and Probation Officers from the Dover Probation and Parole Office have arrested a probationer on a number of drug and weapons charges.

Curtis J. Kearney, 28, of the 700 block of Fords Corner Road, Hartly, and Elizabeth Challies, 25, also of Hartly, were taken into custody Thursday, Jan. 25, division spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.

Officers making a home visit to check on Kearney spotted drug paraphernalia out in plain sight, leading to a further search of the home, Jaffe said.

Police seized 18 bags of heroin, 1.5 dosage units of Xanax, drug paraphernalia, and a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

The gun had been reported stolen out of Troop 9 in October 2017.

Kearney is charged with two counts of possession, purchase, own or control a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited prior violent felony, possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession or control of a deadly weapon by person prohibited and third-degree conspiracy. He has been committed to the Vaughn Correctional Center, Smyrna, in default of a $28,500 secured bond.

Challies is charged with possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of a controlled substance (Xanax) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on an unsecured bond, Bratz said.
