DOHA: Striker Madson yesterday played a stellar role as Al Khor beat Al Kharaitiyat 2-0.
Ariel Thiery (11) and Madson (15) scored the two early goals as Al Khor picked up three points on home soil.
Cameroonian striker Thierry opened the scoring in the 11th minute following a near-perfect cross from Madson.
The attacking Brazilian midfielder picked up a cross from the centre and then quickly charged down the left flank with the ball before swooping into the Al Kharaitiyat box.
Once inside the box, Madson spotted fellow striker Thierry on the other side of the shooting range and slipped in a neat cross.
Thierry in one motion flicked the ball past Al Kharaitiyat goalkeeper who could do little to stop the ball in the 11th minute.
In the 15th minute, Madson once again impressed with his quick pace.
Madson picked up a cross from the centre of the field and charged towards the Al Kharaitiyat goal. Just a few feet from the Al Kharaitiyat box, Madson noticed the goalkeeper had charged out of his position.
Madson launched a curling shot that sailed above the ‘keeper's head and smashed into the net in what was a spectacular strike for Al Khor's tireless attacking midfielder.
Three minutes from the first-half whistile, Madson produced another tearing run but his shot from inside the Al Kharaitiyat box hit the outside of the net.
Madson's brilliant run drew applause form the team mates on the bench, such was his fast-paced run.
Both teams could not score a goal in the second half as the home side notched their fourth win of the season.
At Al Duhail Stadium, Abderrazzaq Hamdallah scored twice as leaders Al Duhail were held in a thrilling encounter. The final scores read 3-3 after the home side led 2-1.
Al Duhail's Karim Boudiaf opened up the scoring for Al Duhail in the third minute. Their advantage was doubled when Dami Terawari added one in the 15th minute before Sebastian Soria scored the first goal for Al Rayyan 10 minutes later.
Then, Al Rayyan's star striker Abderrazzaq Hamdallah struck twice in 27th and 43rd minutes to make it 3-2 in favour of the visitors.
However, Nam Tae-Hee denied victory for Al Rayyan when he scored the equaliser in the 63rd minute.
Earlier, Al Ahli fought back to hold Umm Salal to a 1-1 draw at Al Gharafa Stadium, where the latter play their home matches.
Ivorian striker Yannick Sagbo gave Umm Salal the advantage in the 25th minute that was neutralised by Tunisian attacking midfielder Yassine Chikhaoui in the 88th.
