NEW HAVEN — A fire in the Hill neighborhood Sunday morning displaced 27 people, the city’s fire chief said.
Fire Chief John Alston Jr. said there were no injuries reported after the fire at 566 Howard Ave. that displaced five families.
The fire was first reported at 9:41 a.m. Alston said the fire started on the second floor of a three-story, multi-family residence with at least six units. The one-alarm fire was brought under control within 40 minutes, Alston said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Alston said the fire extended from the second floor to the third floor before rising into the residence’s attic.
“It was pretty extensive,” Alston said.
