Here is what Delhi Daredevils are up to

DAY 1

The prodigal son returns to Delhi as Glenn Maxwell was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a whopping amount of Rs 9 Crores. Coach Ricky Ponting went all out for his compatriot and got his man for a big amount.

Another player heading back to Delhi and is none other than Gautam Gambhir. After helping KKR win two titles, he was let go by the franchise (during IPL retention) and they even chose not use the right to match card for him. Delhi acquire the services of Gambhir for Rs 2.8 crore.

English batting superstar Jason Roy headed to Delhi Daredevils for 1.5 Cr. Recently, against Australia, Roy struck a record-breaking 180 as England chased down more than 300. It was only a surprise that there were no more takers for him in the auction. Economical buy for Delhi who could be the X-factor for Ponting's side.

Arguably the best buy for Delhi in the auction as they acquire the services of Kiwi all-rounder Colin Munro for just 1.9 Cr. The only batsmen to score three T20 international hundreds, the Kiwi has been in amazing form recently scoring at an average of above 40 with a strike rate of over 150.

India Under-19 skipper Prithvi Shaw headed to Delhi Daredevils for 1.2 Cr. From working with Rahul Dravid at the Under 19 world up to working with Ricky Ponting at Delhi. It is a very good deal for the youngster.

Mohammed Shami has been retained by Delhi Daredevils after they used the the Right to Match card for him. Shami was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 3 Crore but Delhi were having none of it as they retained him for the same value.

Delhi Daredevils have done well to retain their two main bowlers - Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Shami. They used their right to match card on both of them and trumped other teams well. Ricky Ponting will be happy that he managed to retain these two premier pace bowlers.

Amit Mishra has been one of the most consistent performers for the Delhi Daredevils over the years and therefore, Ricky Ponting's team have gone again for the leggie and acquired his services for Rs 4 Crore. The attacking right-arm leg-break bowler has played 75 matches and taken 78 wickets at an economy of 7.49. On 17 April 2013 in season 6 of Indian Premier League (IPL 2013) he took a hat-trick playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Pune Warriors India and with this hat-trick, he became the first player in IPL history to take three hat-tricks. He has previously taken hat-trick in IPL 2008 playing for Delhi Daredevils against Deccan Chargers and then again in IPL 2011 playing for Deccan Chargers against Kings XI Punjab.
