This CGI video shows what the new £11m flood defence scheme for Hessle will look like.
East Riding Council revealed plans to install a glass-panelled wall at the Foreshore earlier this week.
The move is designed to protect 4,000 homes over the next 50 years in an area at high risk of tidal flooding.
Low-lying ground was swamped in December 2013 when up to a metre of water swept into 40 residential and 44 commercial properties.
The footage above shows how the defence system will look against the picturesque backdrop of the Humber Bridge.
Hessle county councillor Phil Davison said: “Defences are vital for security against tidal surges for the residents living in the area.
“Every time there’s a threat on the coast, you think that’s also a threat in Hessle if tides are high and the wind is in the wrong direction.
“On Tuesday night there was a slight threat. It’s always there and it is a particular concern where properties are at or below road level.”
As well as protecting property, the scheme is designed to cut the risk of flooding to the major trunk road to and from Hull, the railways line, electricity substations, water and sewerage facilities.
