CEDAR LAKE — The Hanover School Board and Superintendent Tom Taylor announced Taylor’s impending retirement recently.

Taylor’s last official day will be July 3. Taylor has served as Hanover superintendent for five years. He was thanked for his service and said afterward that his first order of business will be to “enjoy retirement.”

The best part of his time at Hanover was getting to know the staff, the families and “especially the kids,” he said. “Thanks for the opportunity."

The Jan. 9 meeting also was the first for new Cedar Lake Police Chief David Coulson, who was introduced to the board by School Resource Officer Lane Linder.

In other board business, trustees approved the addition of three new courses at the high school: AP Calculus, Health Science Education, Pharmacy Tech; and Computer Tech Support.

The board also accepted a $1,000 donation from Hanover parent Matt Waters. The donation will go to the Hanover nutrition program per Waters’ wishes and will be used to pay off the negative balances of all students at Hanover Central Middle school and Lincoln Elementary School.
