Grammy's Best New Artists, new and old

The 60th Grammy Awards will be aired starting at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on CBS. As always, the Best New Artist category is one of the most anticipated; this year's nominees are Alessia Cara,  Khalid,  Lil Uzi Vert,  Julia Michaels and SZA. Here's a look at notable past winners:

Bobby Darin, 1959

The "Mack the Knife" crooner, who started as a rock and roller, was the recipient of the first Best New Artist Grammy.

The Beatles, 1965

It would have been hard to award it to anyone else. The Fabs' competition included Petula Clark and Antonio Carlos Jobim.

The Carpenters, 1971

Smooth pop ruled the day when Karen and Richard picked up the award. The Partridge Family were among the runners-up.

Milli Vanilli, 1990

In the most embarrassing Grammy win ever, the award was rescinded when it was discovered the group didn't actually sing on their records.

Chance the Rapper, 2017

The reigning Best New Artist also won Best Rap Album for "Coloring Book" and Best Rap Performance for "No Problem."
