JnU student loses both legs in train crash

A female student of Jagannath University lost her both legs in a train accident at Kamlapur Railway Station in the capital on Sunday afternoon.

 

Victim Rubina Akhter, 22, is a final year student of Social Works Department at Jagannath University. She is the daughter of late Rabiul Islam of Shantinagar village in Deviganj upazila of Panchagarh.

 

Rubina, residing at a mess in Sadarghat area, told media that she went to get a train from Kamlapur Station for going home.But, suddenly she felt light-headed and fell on the railway track, she added.

 

Railway police sources said the girl met the accident while going to platform 4 for platform 5 crossing the rail line at about 1:30pm.

 

She fell on the railway track and an engine of a train crushed her legs during shunting, leaving both of her legs severed.

 

Earlier on January 22, a Dhaka University student, Shafiqul Islam, lost his both legs in a similar accident at Shahid M Monsur Ali Railway Station in Sirajganj.
