England defeated Australia by 12 runs in the closely contested fifth and final One-Day International (ODI) at Perth today. Put in to bat, England were bowled out for 259 runs in 47.4 overs at the new Perth Stadium. Joe Root top-scored with 62 while there were important contributions from openers Jason Roy (49) and Jonny Bairstow (44). Despite getting a good start, the visitors were not able to bat out the entire 50 overs. Medium pacer Andrew Tye was the pick of the Australian bowlers, taking career-best figures of 5/46 while Mitchell Marsh scalped two. In reply, Australia were bundled out for 247 in 48.2 overs.
