Julia Dorothy Yost and Matthew James Schmitz were married Jan. 27 at the Princeton University Chapel in Princeton, N.J. The Rev. Kevin Staley-Joyce, a Roman Catholic priest, performed the ceremony.
The bride, 33, and the groom, 32, are senior editors at First Things, a journal about religion and public life, in New York. She edits print features and web essays; he edits the books section.
The bride graduated from Penn State and received a master’s degree in fine arts in fiction from Washington University in St. Louis. She is also a Ph.D. candidate in English at Yale.
She is a daughter of Patricia A. Yost and Kenneth J. Yost of State College, Pa. The bride’s father, who is retired, was an associate vice president for research and technology transfer at Penn State. Her mother was a teacher in the State College Area School District.
The groom graduated from Princeton.
He is a son of René M. Schmitz and Douglas J. Schmitz of O’Neill, Neb. The groom’s mother and father are owners of Schmitz Electric, an electrical contracting company there.
The couple met in 2014 at a gala coordinated by First Things in New York.
