Bert Chaney turned 90 on Jan. 26. He was born the 14th child of 17 children, of which five still survive. On April 4, 1958, he married Marilyn Johnson. Bert taught at Hutchinson Community Junior College for 32 years. He served in the Kansas Legislature for 18 years.
Bert enjoys reading, woodworking, sketching and watching the Kansas Jayhawks, but his favorite pastime is spending time with his family. His children are Melissa Law (Barry deceased), Hutchinson; Cindy Proett, Hutchinson; and Doug Chaney (Connie), Jetmore. He has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
