IPL Auction 2018: Team Chennai Super Kings Buy Harbhajan & Watson, Retain du Plessis

The Indian Premier League mega auction for the season 2018 is on at Bengalure and it will be fascinating to see how each of the teams finally shape up. We here at Cricketnext will tell you what is happening with your favourite teams as the franchise owners slug it out with big bucks in their pocket to get the best team combination. Here is what two-time champions Chennai Super Kings are up to.

Chennai Super Kings won the signature of Harbhajan Singh for Rs 2 Crore. Bhajji will now play under Dhoni once again.

Faf Du Plessis will also once again don the yellow of Chennai Super Kings after they used the Right to Match card on him. KXIP bought him for Rs 1.6 Cr but CSK trumped them by using their RTM card and it is a bargain.

After an intense battle between DD, CSK and RCB, all-rounder Shane Watson finally joins the ranks of Chennai Super Kings for Rs 4 Cr. Watson will definitely strengthen the middle order of Dhoni's team with his experience of more than 100 matches in the league. Watson has been voted the man of the tournament in the IPL a record two times, and, according to Forbes, he was the highest-paid non-Indian cricketer in the world for five consecutive years, 2011 to 2015.

Kedar Jadhav then joined CSK for a whopping amount of 7.8 Cr. Kedar last played for RCB in the league and they even had the option to retain him but they chose not to.

When Ambati Rayudu's card came up, there were no takers for him at the early stage but then came along CSK and they bought him for Rs 2.2 crore. Rayudu plied his trade at Mumbai Indians last time around and now he will get a chance to play under MS Dhoni this season.

Chennai Super Kings also got a great bargain as they landed Imran Tahir for just Rs 1 Cr. Tahir last played for Delhi Daredevils in the league and was one of their most top performing players in the league last year.

Mumbai Indians tried their hard to bring back Karn Sharma who had a base price of Rs 2 Cr. But Chennai Super Kings out bid them and landed the star spinner for Rs 5 Crore.

Chennai Super Kings: Retained Players - MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja.
