On the Republic Day DGP D K Pandey visited areas of Latehar and Palamu and spent time with jawal deployed in the heavily naxal infested districts. “I visited my jawans ands officials and met villagers. I wanted to know what they feel now in respect of security and development,” said the DGP.

He also held meeting and reviewed anti-naxal operations continuing in the area. In Latehar district’s Nagar he reached an identified plot of land where a police picket is to come up.

SP Latehar Parshant Anand said the DGP saw the chunk of land identified for the police picket. Sources said Nagar holds a significant position in dealing with extremism because of its proximity to Chatra.

DGP then raced up to Humboo police picket in Herhunj where he spent time with the cops, officials and spoke to villagers. At Humboo DGP spoke about gallantry of cops and what laurels it brings with it. He spent night at Dagra in Palamu.

The DGP later told to The Pioneer, “With the setting up of police pickets twin activities namely security and development would be handled together. When I talk to villagers they post me their problems and demands which they want to be fulfilled.”
