Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board Chairman Ellison Hijarunguru believes Julius Indongo’s decision to relocate to the United States of America will assist in showcasing the country’s local boxing talent to the world.
The former unified junior welterweight champion Indongo has relocated to Omaha, Nebraska in hope of taking his professional career to the next level.
The lanky Namibian boxer, who is also known as “The Blue Machine” signed with Lou DiBella promotions earlier this year and is reportedly responding well to the new techniques under Coach Larry E. Brown.
“Julius is a fabulous guy to work with and he is an extraordinary fast learner. He is getting much stronger and faster day by day. There is no doubt in my mind that Julius will be the king of 140lbs Jr welterweight. “ explained Brown.
Hijarunguru is convinced Indongo will learn lot of new techniques that will assist him in making his way up to the top again.
“For local boxing it’s a good step in the right direction. When he is fighting, he will put Namibia on the map. Boxers must know what is best for them and they must take the right direction in life" he explained.
Boxing promoter Anita Tjombe echoed his sentiments, saying new techniques will help Indongo to win more titles for Namibia.
“I am friends with the trainer in charge of Indongo and they are doing very well. That international exposure will really help him to improve and his experience can be an eye opener to other boxers locally” she told NBC.
It has not yet been announced when Indongo will step into the ring again, but he is rumoured to make his return in March.
