Junior hockey: Wilderness win in shootout

Edward Lindelow's shootout goal lifted the Minnesota Wilderness to a 3-2 victory over the Aberdeen Wings in a North American Hockey League game on Saturday night at Northwoods Arena in Cloquet.

Trailing 1-0, Wilderness forward Ben Ward tied it up with a goal at 4:33 in the third period before teammate Alex Truscott gave the Wilderness a 2-1 lead with a tally at 19:29 in the third. It was short lived, however, as Aberdeen's John Sladic knotted the scored at 19:54 in the period, forcing the extra session.

Five players for each team participated in the shootout, with Aberdeen scoring one goal to the Wilderness' two.

Gabe Vinal stopped 40 shots for Central Division-leading Aberdeen (24-11-3-1, 52 points), while Jacob Sibell stopped 35 shots for the Wilderness (20-17-2-1, 43 points), who earned a series split with the Wings for the second weekend in a row.
