Letter writer says to deploy full force of American military power at the border indefinitely.

I’m about to say some crazy stuff. Please bear with me while I try to make a point.

I have a solution to illegal immigration: declare war on Mexico. Do so and many things fall into place.

A two-week warning could be issued to allow illegals to leave peaceably. Illegals remaining would be enemy combatants and treated accordingly. Hiring or sheltering illegals would be treason for aiding and abetting the enemy. Social, educational and judicial services would be immediately curtailed, preserving those resources for American citizens. Finally, the full force of American military power could be deployed at the border indefinitely. Once the Mexican issues are resolved, we repeat the process for other nationalities here illegally.

Crazy? Then maybe our leaders are overdue to actually find solutions that most people can agree upon. Nobody benefits from impotent political theatrics.
