Rajshahi : Professor Nasima Zaman, Chairperson of Rajshahi University’s Political Science Department, has resigned amid protests of the teachers and students.
She tendered her resignation letter to RU Vice Chancellor Professor M Abdus Sobhan on Sunday citing personal ground.
Professor Ruhul Amin, general secretary of RU Teachers Association (RUTA) and also a Professor of the department, confirmed the Daily Observer about the resignation.
"She will be replaced by another teacher on February 1", he also added.
Earlier in the morning, a faction of teachers of the department kept the room of the chairperson under lock and key demanding her resignation.
Later, the students of the department also expressed their solidarity with the teachers and started demonstration besieging her in the seminar room.
