The Indian Premier League mega auction for the season 2018 is on at Bengaluru and it will be fascinating to see how each of the teams finally shape up. We here at Cricketnext will tell you what is happening with your favourite teams as the franchise owners slug it out with big bucks in their pocket to get the best team combination. Here is what Kings XI Punjab are up to.

DAY 1

After an intense bidding war between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals, ace India spinner Ravinchandran Ashwin was bought by KXIP for a whopping Rs 7.6 Cr. After much deliberation, Kings XI Punjab bid for Yuvraj Singh and he was sold for his base price of Rs 2 Crore. SRH were given the chance to use the RTM card for him but they chose not to use it. Yuvraj heads back to KXIP, where it all started for him in IPL.

The third round of the auction got underway with an intense bidding war between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royal for India's second 300-man Karun Nair. Nair made his Test cricket debut in 2016 against England. He became the third player in international cricket to convert his maiden century into a triple century, by scoring an unbeaten 303 against England in his third Test and KXIP landed Karun Nair for Rs 5.6 crore.

Kings XI Punjab once again broke their bank and this time they acquired the services of KL Rahul for a whopping amount of 11 crores.

Kings XI Punjab got hands on their first overseas players after they used the Right to Match card for South African star David Miller. Mumbai Indians had won the race for Miller with a 3 crore bid but KXIP trumped them by using their RTM card.

Kings XI Punjab bought their second foreigner in Aaron Finch. The Australian big hitter went to KXIP for 6.2 crore. Finch last played for Gujarat Lions in the cash-rich league. Having been around the block for a while, Finch was first drafted into the Rajasthan Royals squad in 2010 and was in 2011, picked up by the Delhi Daredevils. He continued with them for two seasons and was later picked up by Pune Warriors India in 2013 and was with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014. Finch has been bought by the Mumbai Indians in 2015 season, but he couldn't play for the team due to injury.

Kings XI Punjab used the Right to Match card for Marcus Stoinis after Royal Challengers Bangalore had won the race for his signature for Rs 6.2 Cr. KXIP is building a solid team here and have been the most active franchise in the auction. Mayank Agarwal also went to Kings XI Punjab for 1 Cr.

DAY 2

Chris Gayle! Finally! Going under the hammer for the third time in two days, the West Indian superstar is bought by Kings XI for his base price of Rs 2 crore. Also, right after him the team goes for Manzoor Das for Rs 20 Lakh.

India cricketer Manoj Tiwary is bagged by the Punjab team for Rs 1 Cr. Tiwary has been a very consistent cricketer for his teams in the past and Sehwag will hope the Bengal cricketer will bring stability to his middle-order.

Mohit Sharma may have thought he was going to turn out for CSK this time as they won the race for his signature at 2.4 Cr. However, KXIP used the RTM card to retain his services. Good buy for Sehwag's team.

Afghanistan's 16-year-old Mujeeb Zadran is bought by KXIP for 4 Cr.

Kings XI Punjab are still the most active team in the auction as they buy the services of Indian pacer Barinder Sran. The Indian pacer is sold for 2.2 Cr.

Australian superstar Andrew Tye sees teams fighting for his signature as CSK and KXIP go all out for the all-rounder. KXIP eventually win the race as they sign Tye for 7.2 Cr. Last year, Tye performed really well for the Gujarat Lions and also picked up a hat-trick.
