Expressing his fear about the spread of black money in this election year, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Sunday asked the banks to be careful in this regard.
The Minister came up with the apprehension while addressing as chief guest at the business conference of Rupali Bank Limited held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.
"Banking sector would have to be very careful to prevent the flow of black money ahead of the next general elections," Muhith said.
Mentioning that the government will sanction more capital for banks in next budget, the minister said, "Every year, money is supplied from the budget to the banks to meet their deficit."
"We won't let a bank to be destroyed. The entire banking sector will be destroyed if any bank ruins," he added.
