The story: UND held Denver stars Henrik Borgstrom, Troy Terry and Dylan Gambrell off the scoresheet in forging a second-straight time against the defending national champion Pioneers. Christian Wolanin scored the game-tying goal for UND in the second period on the power play and Denver killed one of UND's power plays in the third period. For the second-straight night, Denver took the extra point in the league standings by winning in the three-on-three.

Did you notice: Referee Nick Krebsbach, who attended Grand Forks Red River, injured two fingers when a puck came at his face during the second period and he put his hand up to protect his face. UND athletic trainer Mark Poolman attended to Krebsbach, who stayed in the game.
Lineup notes: UND played without its top two centermen -- juniors Rhett Gardner and Nick Jones -- for the second-straight game. Gardner missed his fifth-straight game and Jones his second. UND also was without defenseman Gabe Bast for a third-straight game. Forward Cole Smith served a one-game suspension for a hit to the head of Denver's Adam Plant. Smith was given a five-minute major penalty and was ejected for the hit. Plant didn't return and didn't play in the series finale. Griffin Mendel moved into the lineup in Plant's place. With only 11 forwards avialable for the game, UND moved defenseman Casey Johnson to forward for the first time in his college career.
