MEN'S BASKETBALL
ESU 103, Cheyney 62
EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University men’s basketball head coach Jeff Wilson earned his 285th career win, moving into the top 10 in PSAC history, with the Warriors’ 103-62 win over Cheyney on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.
ESU (14-4, 11-3), ranked fourth in NCAA Division II in scoring (94.0 ppg) entering the weekend, hit the 100-point mark for the school-record tying seventh time this season and sets up a trip to PSAC East leader Shippensburg (15-3, 11-2) on Wednesday. ESU won the first meeting, 90-79, on Jan. 3 at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Wilson improves to 285-161 (.639) in his 16th season, leading the Warriors to 12 straight winning seasons, five with at least 20 wins, six PSAC Final Four’s (2010-15), four PSAC East regular season titles (2010, 2013-15), four NCAA Tournaments (2010, 2012-14) and the 2012 and 2014 PSAC championships.
He is also a two-time NABC DII Atlantic Region Coach of the Year (2010, 2014) and was the 2014 DII Coach of the Year by Basketball Times and CollegeInsider.com, leading the Warriors to a 30-2 record, No. 2 ranking in the final NABC regular season poll and the Atlantic Region final.
Since becoming head coach in 2002-03, ESU ranks second in the PSAC in win percentage (.639), first in assists per game (15.8), turnover margin (+3.0) and steals per game (9.3), and second in points per game (78.8) as Wilson brought back the Warriors’ 94-foot style from his nine seasons as an assistant coach under Sal Mentesana from 1987-95.

COLLEGE TRACK AND FIELD
Castro matches ESU record at Lehigh
BETHLEHEM – Senior Christian Castro matched the program record in the 60-meter dash, and three Warriors raced to first place finishes on the track for East Stroudsburg University at Lehigh’s John Covert Classic on Saturday.
Castro took second place in a field of 66 runners after completing the race in a new PSAC qualifying time of 6.98. That mark matches junior Pat Monahan’s ESU record which was established at last year’s PSAC Indoor Championships, and it is the second-quickest time by a PSAC runner in the 60m this season.
Senior Kaylyn West, sophomore Sarah Klag and junior Khai Samuels registered the event wins for the Warriors. West beat out 41 other runners in the mile, and her PSAC qualifying time of 5:11.00 was over six seconds ahead of Rowan’s Hannah Vendetta (5:17.94) in second place.
Klag completed the 400m in a time of 1:00.79 which was only 0.20 off her season-best. That ranked her first in a field of 56 competitors.
Samuels, meanwhile, entered the ESU record books after topping the field in the 1000m. His time of 2:32.80 is the eighth-quickest in program history in that event.
