City celebrated 69th Republic Day with patriotic fervour and commitment of development. Food and civil supplies Minister Saryu Roy unfurled the Tricolour at the function organised by the district administration at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur. Roy unfurled the national flag at Gopal Maidan while Tata Steel president (TQM and Steel Business) Anand Sen hoisted the flag inside company works.
In his address, Roy said that the Government is dedicated in the progress of the society. All the welfare schemes funded by Central and State are being passed on to the needy. “We are celebrating the Republic Day which in itself means a lot but at the same time, the challenges to sustain as a free democracy has increased with external forces and their conspiracies. It is in this time that time that we ought to remain united and fight everything together,” said Roy.
Roy, handed over trophies to eight schools for maintaining cleanliness besides felicitating families of freedom fighters. He said it is time to ponder what we have achieved in the past 68 years and what we can achieve in the coming 20 years. Development is the only mantra for improving society.”
Roy, who inspected the parade by RAF, CRPF, district police and NCC cadets, appreciated the tableaus brought out by different departments of East Singhbhum, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, civil defence and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya.
Republic Day parade were presented by Rapid Action Force (RAF), Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP), home guards and NCC cadets. Organisations and corporates also presented their respective floats. Red Cross Society, Civil Defence, education department, agriculture department, Tata Steel, Tata Motors displayed their floats based on various themes.
