Fousseni Diabate also scored twice on a promising debut, with Wilfred Ndidi completing the scoresheet.

Andrew Hughes got a consolation goal for Peterborough.

Fourth-tier Newport hosts Tottenham later Saturday and Liverpool faces visiting West Bromwich Albion.
