WEST HAVEN — A New London woman is accused of driving drunk Friday night and slamming into a stopped police cruiser, injuring an officer, according to a police press release.
An officer was standing on the passenger side of his patrol car on Derby Avenue, conducting a motor vehicle stop about 7 p.m., when a vehicle driven by Deonna White hit the rear of the cruiser, the release said. The impact pushed the patrol car into the side of the officer, who suffered minor injuries, the release said. He avoided further injury by jumping away at that moment, according to the release.
Police arrested White, 39, who was allegedly found to be operating under the influence. She was charged with operating while intoxicated and failure to stay in an established lane.
