Bloemfontein - A 49-year-old woman was killed after being struck by lightning on a farm in Ladybrand in the Free State on Friday afternoon.
ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said when paramedics arrived shortly after 16:30, they found the woman lying on the ground covered with a blanket.
The police were already in attendance.

"Upon further assessment, paramedics found that the woman had sustained extensive burn wounds to the front part of her body," he said.
Meiring said the woman showed no signs of life and she was declared dead on the scene by ER24. He said the exact details of the incident were unknown.
