Eight people were taken with injuries that were not life-threatening to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital after a bus vs. truck crash Saturday afternoon at the intersection of 4th St. and Locust St. in DeKalb.
DeKalb Police Sgt. Joe Espy said police responded to the crash at 2:51 p.m. Saturday. Espy said a Huskie Bus was traveling west in the 400 block of East Locust St. and entered the intersection on a green light. A pickup truck traveling south on 4th St. entered the path of the intersection and was struck.
DeKalb Fire Department Battalion Chief Bart Gilmore said eight people were taken on six ambulances from DeKalb, Sycamore, Cortland and Malta. Gilmore said there was some damage, although not significant, to the building at the southwest corner of the intersection. The window of the building was broken.
Both the bus and truck were towed from the scene, Espy said.
Espy said citations were pending further investigation. Names of the drivers and victims were not available.
The intersection was shut down for about 45 minutes to treat injuries and remove the vehicles.
